The last cycle of EU rulemakers focused largely on sorting out the continent’s energy system: setting renewable energy targets, overhauling electricity market legislation and signing off on the right pipeline projects.
Now it is the turn of transport to go under the microscope and with a fresh European Commission executive branch taking office on December 1, big changes are in the offing across the mobility board.
The main tools that the EU will use to pinpoint where attention is needed are national strategies produced by each country, which will be used to plan policy for the next decade and which will be submitted to Brussels at the end of this year.
